In 2016 we awarded the First Annual Richard E. Forrestel Scholarship. This is a $1500.00 scholarship and was awarded to Jesse Field to help complete his aeronautical training at Liberty University. Jesse is now an airline pilot.
Taigan Lavery was the winner of the Forrestel Scholarship in 2018. Tiagan will be studying at the University at Buffalo in Aerospace Engineering.
In 2019, Ryan Neuner was awarded the Richard E. Forrestel Memorial Scholarship of $2500 and will be attending Embry-Riddle University for Aeronautical Science.
CAEF supports local efforts to improve flight safety and programs to make aviation more affordable for all who want to fly. Providing scholarships, encouraging new pilots, supporting missionary aviation, and enhancing flight safety are the major reasons for CAEF’s existence.
Richard Forrestel, Chairman of the Board, Cold Spring Construction Company, was a founding owner of Akron Airport and an avid supporter of General Aviation in Western New York. CAEF is honoring Dick’s contributions to aviation by establishing a Memorial Scholarship in his name.
